When the Fight Calls

Ten messages in our summer series, "More Than a Song," where we'll explore the priority of worship and the power of music.

WHEN THE FIGHT CALLS

Psalm 59:9-10 NIV

9 You are my strength, I watch for you;you, God, are my fortress, 10 my God on whom I can rely.God will go before meand will let me gloat over those who slander me.

Psalm 59:11-12 NIV

11 But do not kill them, Lord our shield,or my people will forget. In your might uproot themand bring them down. 12 For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter,

Psalm 59:13-17 NIV

13 consume them in your wrath, consume them till they are no more. Then it will be known to the ends of the earththat God rules over Jacob. 14 They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city. 15 They wander about for foodand howl if not satisfied. 16 But I will sing of your strength,in the morning I will sing of your love;for you are my fortress,my refuge in times of trouble. 17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you;you, God, are my fortress,my God on whom I can rely.

I won't let the storm weather my heart
Won't let the darkness beat me down
Sing in the night my hope alive in You
I'll walk through the fire and not be burned
Pray in the fight and watch it turn
Jesus tonight I give it all to You

James 3:9-11 NIV

9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

Matthew 23:27 NIV

27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.

Galatians 5:16-25 NIV

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Next Sunday, Pastor Dan will begin a new series called, Vision.
